Monarch Motivational Interviewing and Coaching Tools for Southwestern Ontario Public Health Professionals ~ 18 December {via Zoom}

This introductory course provides a meaningful overview of MI using The Monarch System’s unique approach which integrates MI with other impactful and evidence-based behaviour change practices such as coaching methods and key elements of behaviour change theories/applications. This full day workshop – 9:00 AM  to 4:00 PM Eastern Time – is restricted to nurses and other health professionals who work on the sexual health / harm reduction teams at Southwest Public Health for Oxford * Elgin * St Thomas, Ontario. During the workshop, we will explore and help you to acquire applied techniques to use with your patients/clients in your day-to-day contacts. Specifically, you will learn how to build motivation and transition that enhanced motivation into a strengthened and real commitment to behaviour changes through such applied motivational interviewing and coaching elements as presence, competence views, compelling questions, reflective listening, readiness to change and change talk, and tagging values onto desired behaviour changes, all in service of your clients’ needs for long- term goal setting and firm commitment to change.
